What about Boeing's mission and the work we do inspires you?
As an aeronautical engineer, I’m very attracted to the aerospace sector, especially aircraft development. Boeing’s leadership gives me motivation.
What internship do you participate in – Business, Engineering or IT & Data Science Analytics?
I’m doing my internship in Business Operations as an engineer, supporting my manager Llorenc Llopart Prieto in the MTI team.
What Boeing product(s) or service(s) do you work on?
As I said before, I’m working on Business Operations supporting my manager in material development to represent the Munich and Sheffield Offices of BR&TE in Germany, Austria and the UK. I also review existing contracts to develop a comprehensive supplier map, identify any contractual gaps, risks, issues and opportunities and also review current reporting mechanisms to identify opportunities for automation and optimization. In addition, I support other activities of the office, such as working with the AMT department to optimize templates for some projects.
What's been the most rewarding project you've worked on as a Boeing intern? What did you do specifically on that project?
If I had to choose one, I really do not know which one I would choose. All the projects I've been working on have brought me knowledge and my first contact with the aerospace sector. They helped me believe in myself and my ability to succeed. I’m also working to create a Sharepoint of the Munich office and to connect it with other teams’ Sharepoints, in order to have an intranet for all the members of the office and to automate some tasks.
How will your internship experience at Boeing influence your future career?
This internship was my first contact with the aerospace industry, and I will be delighted to continue my professional career at Boeing as an aeronautical engineer.
How do you think we are pushing the limits of aerospace technology?
Aerospace technology does not have any limits, and Boeing is pushing its development, such as the prototype of the passenger air vehicle designed for fully autonomous flight powered by an electric propulsion system, which will revolutionize passenger transport over short distances.
Describe 1-2 things you’ve learned as an intern that you wouldn’t learn from your coursework.
Two important skills I have learned have been the improvement of my teamwork ability and to take initiative in making decisions. It is not the same to overcome situations in a university as in the work environment, because you are working with highly qualified people. These skills cannot be learned at the university because, here, your work not only affects you, it affects your entire team – so you have a responsibility to yourself and to all the members of your team.
What's something you wish you knew before you started your internship?
I would say that until you start working, you cannot know what you really need. And that is why I truly believe that the sooner you get the opportunity to have an internship, the sooner you can improve your skills and competencies.
