Boeing Commercial Airlines - Fabrication Division in Salt Lake City, Utah has a need for an Expert-Level Manufacturing Engineer. This position is responsible for composite fabrication of the 787 Horizontal Stabilizer and Vertical Fin. In West Jordan, Utah we produce 737 Door metal fabrication and assembly and 787 composite empennage fabrication.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leads mutli-functional teams in analyzing product development, innovative producibility studies and production/tooling philosophies for composite structures.
- Conceptualizes and oversees the implementation of the program architecture for complex composite build.
- Consults upper management on long-range planning.
- Develops manufacturing plans or concepts for high level program requirements.
- Conducts producibility and variation analyses on fabrication and assembly of composite parts.
- Resolves complex technical problems.
- Organizes technical aspects of proposal development. Develops and authors new engineering principles, theories and advanced technologies.
- Develops advanced design solutions. Conducts research resulting in new product or business opportunities.
- Consults on lean principles and technologies for enterprisewide initiatives.
- Documents and communicates producibility best practices. Establishes procedures, standards, protocols and reporting requirements.
- Trains and mentors new or early career engineers
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 14 or more years’ of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Knowledge of working documents such as Engineering/Manufacturing Bill of Materials, Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Corrective Action.
- Experience in composite fabrication processes.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for Expert level (Level 5): $133,450 - $180,550
