An exciting opportunity has become available to join Boeing Defence UK as a Systems Support Team Lead based at RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire.
We are looking for an experienced engineer with great inter-personal skills to join and lead a team of six systems support engineers who oversee the on-site operation, update and maintenance of a complex suite of training simulation applications and services for the RAF’s Gladiator programme.
This is a fast-paced, customer-focussed role that supports the RAF in the delivery of operationally important team and collective training exercises that join geographically distributed air and ground simulation equipment together in a single, consistent, synthetic training environment. The role is based at RAF Waddington where virtual working will not be possible.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Supervise the day-to-day taskings and priorities of the Systems Support Team, coaching and mentoring as required
- Ensure the team efficiently and effectively address user issues
- Oversee and perform troubleshooting, maintenance, change, reconfiguration and support to exercises, visits and demonstrations
- Manage and resolve escalated issues
- Maintain high standards of system and service quality and ensure KPIs and SLAs are met
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to team members
- Undertake peer reviews to ensure work is completed with accuracy
- Maintain and review processes and documentation as required
- Deconflict and resource shifts and taskings
- Attend meetings as required to provide and gather information in relation to team taskings

Essential Requirement's:
- This position is for a UK National only because of site restrictions
- SC security clearance is essential. Willingness and eligibility to undergo DV level clearance
Preferred Requirements:
- You will be a passionate engineer with a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering or scientific field, as well as:
- Strong interpersonal skills and be a team player
- Good leader of people
- Good analytical skills
- Experience working with simulation protocols; HLA & DIS
- Experience working with synthetic collective training environments
- Experience in software/application support (Windows, Server & RHEL) for various interconnected systems.
- Understanding of software deployment, management and configuration of complex systems.
- Understanding of source control tools and repositories.
- Understanding of networking, protocols and routing.
- Customer-focussed with a can-do attitude
- Willing to work in a military environment requiring adherence to security procedures
- Willing to work in a safe manner
- Technical application of military, distributed, training simulation systems and compliance to military standards
- Application of engineering best practices and principles
