The Boeing Product & Services Safety (P&SS) organization is seeking a motivated and dedicated Senior System Safety Engineer to join the Systems Safety Team within Enterprise Safety and Mission Assurance in Tukwila, WA.
At Boeing, Safety is at the core of everything we do. As a System Safety Engineer, you will play a key role throughout the entire life cycle of the U.S. Air Force's (USAF) E7-A aircraft program. This includes everything from initial conceptual development and design to testing, production, and sustainment of the fielded aircraft. You’ll gain a comprehensive view of the defense industry and hands-on experience with the aircraft, exploring its intricate complexities.
The Systems Safety team is responsible for overseeing the safety efforts for the USAF E7-A. This includes performing safety analyses for basic aircraft functions and managing the design safety activities for the aircraft's mission systems. The team also provides guidance and integration with Mission Assurance and other related functions, including Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health teams, covering areas such as airworthiness, design for Environment, Health and Safety, and the Hazardous Materials Management.
Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including, Senior Systems Safety Engineers (Level 4 or 5).
Position Responsibilities:
Utilize an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and validate balanced system of systems and system solutions throughout their lifecycle
Assess customer and operational needs to establish system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and ensure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces
Conduct analyses to optimize system architecture, ensuring an effective system of systems approach
Perform evaluations for key factors, including affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory compliance, certification, product assurance, and other quality aspects, to achieve a preferred configuration and ensure mission success
Support the planning and organization of requirements management processes, including tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, as well as technology readiness assessment processes
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Tukwila, WA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications
9+ years of experience in a technical or engineering field
7+ years of experience in aviation systems safety engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience implementing Department of Defense system safety standards MIL STD 882E
Experience implementing FAA Safety Processes
Experience in traditional engineering analytical methods and Aerospace/Industry Standards (SAE ARP 4754A, SAE ARP 4761, RTCA DO-160, RTCA DO-178, RTCA DO-331)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range for Senior (level 4): $128,350 - $173,650
Summary Pay Range for Senior (level 5): $157,250 - $212,750
