Boeing Canada Operations Ltd. is seeking C-17 Field Operations Base Manager, reporting to the Director C-17 Field Operations Base Manager.
This position is for a Boeing Manager of a C-17 Field Operations team at Canadian Forces Base Trenton in Canada; this is an established C-17 field location supporting 5 Canadian C-17 aircraft through the C-17 G3 Contract between the U.S. Department of Defense and The Boeing Company.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in dealing with senior military (to include 1-star level) and company officials; ability to work independently under time constraints in an international environment; excellent organizational, communication and people skills; experience in supporting aircraft in a fast-paced sortie generation peacetime and "contingency surge" environment; familiarity with the Boeing and DOD supply systems and military maintenance practices and procedures.
Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will manage and supervise a multi-disciplined team and serve as the on-location program representative to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).
The successful candidate will report through the C-17 International Field Services Director to the Integrated Program Team.
They will lead and integrate an international multi-disciplined team of C-17 specialists comprising Engineering & Technical Support, Supply, Security, O&I maintenance and Data Management specialists, responsible for supporting daily organizational and intermediate level sortie generation through scheduling, documentation, sustaining airworthiness engineering activities, and wholesale and retail spares support.
The successful candidate will work very closely with the C-17 Squadron Senior Maintenance and Engineering Officer (located locally) as well as the RCAF Weapons System Manager located in Warner-Robbins, Georgia.
Specific tasks include liaising with senior military officers and their designees to ensure thedelivery of high levels of customer service and satisfaction; work with government & civic leaders to promote Boeing's interests in this region.
Monitor, report and execute budget and staffing plans.
Develop and establish policies, organizational structures and report performance targets to Executive Management.
Requires proficiency working in a multi-disciplined environment, together with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
Requires the ability to function in a demanding, on-call, around the clock operational environment and must be willing to travel, principally in Canada and the USA but possibly elsewhere as dictated by job requirements.
Prior leadership and management experience is essential, prior C- 17 experience would be an advantage.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years of proven leadership and management experience in dynamic environments.
More than 3 years of experience collaborating with senior military and corporate officials, fostering strong professional relationships.
Extensive experience exceeding 3 years in engaging with international customers, ensuring effective communication and service delivery.
Over 3 years of hands-on experience in aviation field operations and maintenance facilities, demonstrating technical expertise and operational proficiency.
Strong working skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, and OneNote.
Business (Financial) acumen - Understands and utilize economic, financial, and industrial data to accurately diagnose business strengths and weaknesses, identifying key issues, and developing strategies and plans.
Must be willing and eligible to work on Canadian government and defense-related programs
Must consent to Canadian Government Controlled Goods Program (CGP) assessment,
Must be eligible for Secret Level II security clearance,
Must be legally able to work in Canada.
Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods
Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data
Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):
Bachelor's degree is derisible but not essential where candidates have at least 5 years’ experience leading and managing teams.
Familiar with Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) or in a role requiring project/program management skills.
Familiarity with Boeing and/or DOD supply systems desirable.
Prior C-17 or other airlift aircraft field experience would be an advantage.
Experience in aircraft maintenance
Effective influencing skills working with employees and customer officers.
Demonstrated experience in effective verbal and written communication.
Listening to and working to understand other’s needs or requirements.
Communicating confidently and persuasively with a clear sense of audience and appropriate tone.
Additional Information:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
