The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced Metallurgical Lab Technician to join our team in Seattle, WA.
The Materials & Fracture Analysis lab consists of a team of subject matter experts who apply engineering knowledge of materials, processes, and physics engineering disciplines (materials science, chemistry, physics) to support the engineering, manufacture, and sustainment of Boeing products regarding the design, production, application, and maintenance of mechanical and structural systems.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists with the development or improvement of inspection or test techniques
Follows documented procedures to set up and calibrate specialized test or measurement equipment
Assists in the documentation of procedures for setting up and calibrating test equipment
Follows documented procedures to perform tests or inspections and collects data for evaluation of process equipment, software, solutions, products or materials
Perform macroscopic/microscopic examination of metal or composite parts to specified criteria and determination of conformity.
Elevates anomalous results as required
Documents and communicates standard test, analysis or measurement results to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements
Works under general supervision
May require working at heights and enclosed spaces
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Associate’s Degree or higher, a technical certificate or degree, or 3 more years of equivalent technical experience
Experience cutting, mounting and polishing chemically etch and interpret metallurgical mounted samples
2 + years of experience working in a laboratory setting, performing testing to standards, and providing laboratory service to customers.
Experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications
Ability to work with High Hazard Chemicals
Experience maintaining industrial equipment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience preparing and working with chemicals including etchants, and cutting fluids
Experience with the operation of industrial equipment including band saws, cutting saws, grinding, polishing, etc.
Experience with the operation of precision instruments including microscopes, optical comparators, spectrometers, and mechanical test frames
Experience with photography and performing photo editing to document conditions of parts for analysis
Experience with Microsoft office suite

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for Associate (Level 3): $68,850 - $93,150
