The Boeing Company - Global Finance Services is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Specialist (Domestic Employment) to join the team in Renton, Washington or Hazelwood, Missouri.
The Senior Payroll Tax Specialist (Level 4) is responsible for providing advanced expertise and support in domestic employment tax matters. This role involves managing complex employment tax compliance, consulting on tax implications related to employee compensation, benefits, and payroll, and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations. The specialist will collaborate with internal teams and external clients to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant employment tax solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
Manage and execute complex employment tax compliance activities, including payroll tax filings, shadow payroll tax reporting for international assignees, and reconciliations
Provide expert guidance on employment tax regulations, including federal, state and international tax laws and their impact on payroll and employee benefits
Review and analyze payroll data to identify tax risks and opportunities for optimization
Collaborate with payroll, Human Resources (HR), finance teams and external tax advisor to ensure accurate tax withholding, reporting, and remittance
Assist in the preparation and review of employment tax returns, including Forms 941, 940, W-2, and state equivalents
Provide tax guidance to HR, mobility, payroll, and business managers on assignment policies, tax implications of assignment types (short-term, long-term, permanent transfer), compensation structuring, and tax-equalization mechanics
Manage the administration of Tax Equalization policy and settlement between tax vendor, assignee and payroll for international assignment population.
Provide timely, clear responses to employee tax questions and Tax Equalization enquiries; help to resolve their cases
Support tax audits and inquiries related to employment tax matters, coordinating responses and documentation as needed
Stay current with changes in employment tax legislation and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders
Provide training and mentorship to junior tax specialists and other team members
Participate in special projects related to employment tax process improvements and system implementations
Liaise with external tax advisors, government agencies, and auditors to resolve employment tax issues
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field
3+ years of experience in Payroll Tax
3+ years of experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills
Able and willing to travel 20% of the time domestically
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
3+ years of experience creating and analyzing data and metrics through the use of HR systems (HRMS, PeopleSoft, Taleo, etc.) and Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Big 4 experience
4+ years of experience in employment tax compliance and consulting
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, local and international employment tax laws and regulations
Strong understanding of payroll processes and systems including shadow payroll process
Experience with tax software and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for Renton, WA: $120,700 - $163,300
Summary pay range for Hazelwood, MO: $113,050 - $152,950
