Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Numerical Control Abrasive Fluid Jet Operator to join our Fabrication team in Renton, Washington.
As a Numerical Control Abrasive Fluid Jet Operator, you will harness advanced machinery and your technical expertise to transform raw materials into critical components with exceptional accuracy. Position Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate numerically controlled abrasive fluid jet equipment to cut, trim, shape, and profile a variety of metallic and non-metallic materials.
- Determine setup methods and manually operate the machine when numerical control media is unavailable.
- Position and secure work holding devices and parts to ensure accurate machining.
- Verify own setup and work to ensure finished parts meet quality requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate workflow between different groups or departments to maintain efficient operations.
- Perform necessary machine adjustments, including regulation of flow and pressure, and removal/replacement of jet tips.
- Interpret and work from prints, sketches, templates, specifications, work orders, and verbal instructions.
- Conduct bench work using precision measuring instruments, hand tools, and power tools to complete assignments.
- Plan, develop, and fabricate shop aids to facilitate work processes.
- Inspect shop orders, materials, and the condition of templates, jigs, and fixtures for accuracy and usability.
- Maintain accurate logs of machine operations, monitor machine wear and functionality, and report any issues.
- Manage inventory levels of perishable supplies such as garnet, replaceable beds, and machine parts necessary for routine maintenance.
- Utilize various computing systems as required to perform job functions effectively.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
- Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.
- Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
- Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
- Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
- Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
- Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience reading engineering blueprints/drawings
- 1+ years of experience with Conventional and Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines
- Must have the ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods of time with only short breaks
- Able to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ year experience operating powered material handling equipment
Typical Education & Experience:
High school graduate or GED preferred.
