The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Safety, Certification and Airworthiness Applicant Integration team is looking for a senior engineer to join the team as an Applicant Engineer Advisor. The Applicant Integration team engages across BDS programs to enable success in certification. The primary location for the position is Oklahoma City, OK, with alternate locations in Puget Sound, Philadelphia, St Louis or Mesa.
The candidate for this role will have a strong background in the practice of certification activities, such as reviewing, developing or maintaining Certification Plans/Certification Bases, producing documents showing compliance to airworthiness regulations, and technical communication on certification topics. In addition, the candidate will have a good understanding of certification requirements, such as FAA regulations, EMAR, MIL-HDBK-516, etc.
Common job duties include developing and reviewing highly detailed guidance material, preparing and presenting educational content, collaborating with organizations across the Enterprise, and acting as a consultant and mentor on foundational certification topics.
Position Responsibilities:
Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and review educational material and guidance for general certification topics
Represent BDS Engineering in collaboration on Enterprise-wide certification discussions and workshops
Advise program leadership, certification focals and Technical Lead Engineers (TLEs)
Mentor current and future Certification TLEs
Consult on NARs (Non-Advocate Reviews), program gate reviews, or similar activities to assess project certification maturity as the BDS Engineering certification representative
Contribute to BDS and Enterprise-wide certification guidance documents, command media, and Applicant processes
Author or co-author Design Practices (DPs) and participate in Technical Design Reviews (TDRs)
Some travel to other Boeing sites may be required.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
(Level 4) - Bachelor’s and 9+ years’ experience or Master’s and 7+ years OR (Level 5) - Bachelor’s and 14+ years’ experience or Master’s and 12+ years
5+ years of experience in the aerospace industry
4+ years of experience authoring and reviewing certification plans or deliverables for FAA and/or military certification projects
3+ years of experience technical writing (such as technical reports, showing of compliance, and/or guidance documentation)
3+ years of experience as a technical leader (e.g. TLE, BDE, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
More than 12 years of experience in the aerospace industry
More than 10 years of experience authoring and reviewing certification plans or certification deliverables for FAA/MCDA projects.
Experience in all phases of the lifecycle of a certification project
Previous or current position as a DAE, DER, UM, or PA (candidates may continue working in those positions if all related requirements can be retained or transferred if outside Boeing)
Experience communicating with ODA, FAA, or foreign regulatory agencies
Active government clearance
Education/experience:
Level 4 -
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or 7+ years with a Master’s.
Level 5 -
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or 12+ years with a Master’s.

Summary pay range (level 4 ): $122,400 - $190,900 (OK, AZ, MO, WA & PA)
Summary pay range (level 5): $148,750 - $231,150 (OK, AZ, MO, WA & PA)
