Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SIWS) is seeking a Senior Production Engineering Manager to drive production excellence across large-scale aerospace structures, leading cross-functional teams, modernizing processes, and ensuring on-time, on-spec deliveries that directly enable human exploration beyond low-Earth orbit in New Orleans, LA.

Position Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, develop and motivate a multi-discipline production engineering organization supporting SLS hardware production, assembly, integration, and test.
- Partner with Integrated Product Team (IPT) to support and improve the production system.
- Develop and implement production engineering strategies, processes, and metrics to meet schedule, quality, and cost objectives.
- Oversee manufacturing readiness reviews, production readiness verifications, and key gating events for flight hardware.
- Drive closure of non-conformances, corrective/preventive actions, and root cause investigations in coordination with quality and engineering teams.
- Collaborate with design engineering to ensure producibility, manufacturability, and maintainability are addressed during design maturation and change implementation.
- Manage supplier engineering engagement to ensure supplier process control, flow-down requirements, and delivery performance.
- Establish and maintain production plans, resource forecasts, and capacity requirements; align staffing and site footprint to program needs.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, DFMA) to raise productivity, reduce cycle time, and improve yields.
- Ensure production engineering documentation, work instructions, and configuration control are maintained and compliant with program/project standards.
- Communicate program status, technical risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff; foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and innovation.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
- 10+ years of experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, and/or production environment OR 5+ years of experience in a leadership role (i.e., manager, project manager, team lead, etc.).
- Experience from the beginning of the process through to the end, with any of the following: Design & development of test fixtures and/or test plans, Design of a part or assembly, Design of tooling or development of production processes to make the part, Development of a proposal, Development of a proposal to involve cost estimating, Provided support to customers following delivery, Worked closely with manufacturing during the build process.
- Experience with the early lifecycle of technology development including the qualification of parts and processes for production readiness.
- Experience in planning and production control processes.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Master’s degree in engineering, engineering management, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience supporting large, complex launch vehicle, or spacecraft production programs.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt/Black Belt) or equivalent continuous improvement training.
- Experience with supplier management and contract manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of aerospace quality systems (e.g., AS9100) and regulatory/compliance requirements for flight hardware.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners.
- Previous management experience.
- Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage program-level risks, and drive corrective actions to closure.
- Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams.
- Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.

NASA Access:
This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $155,550 - $210,450
