Role Overview
Boeing’s continued success and growth is built on the philosophy of Continuous Improvement. This exciting role will support our Vertical Lift Business supporting Chinook and Apache Programmes operating primarily from Middle Wallop but will require regular travel to other locations including; Wattisham, Suffolk and Gosport in Hampshire.
The role will combine Facilitation, Coaching, Training Employees, Project Management, and Project Delivery. Joining a successful Business Improvement Team this high-profile position will support a range of Improvement / Change Initiatives including working and collaborating with customers and suppliers.
As a Business Improvement Specialist in Lean / Process Improvement methodologies, you will coordinate a range of initiatives and projects crossing into manufacturing, aircraft maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and other business functions to deliver benefits in safety, cost, quality and time. The successful candidate would need to have the ability to positively engage with front line workers and senior management. Facilitating workshops, conducting independent investigations, and coordination of productivity / process improvements will be a core responsibility. As will coaching, training and mentoring employees to support the development of high-performance work teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Workshop / Continuous Improvement Event facilitation
- Project support, reporting, recording and presenting updates and outcomes of improvement initiatives and related activities
- Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to identify and contribute to the delivery improvements as per business priorities
- Providing knowledge in Lean / Continuous Improvement Methodologies
- Utilising the Company Productivity and Quality Improvement Systems which will include training and coaching others in those systems
- Training, Coaching and Mentoring employees in accordance with company standards to develop Lean / Continuous Improvement Competencies
- Assisting employee teams to develop metrics in support of process improvements
- Contribute directly to Productivity and Quality improvements
Competencies:
- Excellent Stakeholder Management Skills with the ability to engage and inspire cross functional teams at all levels.
- Project Management, Financial and Commercial awareness with the ability to inform Business Cases to support CI Initiatives.
- Coaching & Mentoring skills to develop Lean / Continuous Improvement Competencies
- Confident facilitator with ability to work and influence in a matrix structure
- Experience in organizing and facilitating a variety of improvement activities ranging from 1-day events to multiple day events
- Can demonstrate the ability to work in a demanding environment
- Can demonstrate application of a variety of continuous improvement methods and tools
- Produce meaning information through analyzing data into recommendations for improvement.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have significant experience in Aviation MRO, or equivalent relevant experience. Previous experience in a Continuous Improvement role demonstrating facilitation, project management and application of Lean / Continuous Improvement systems and tools is highly desirable.
- Your experience will enable you to demonstrate a track record of continued success where you have directly contributed to tangible improvements. You will also demonstrate examples where you have worked closely with teammates and stakeholders and through those relationships influenced productivity and quality improvements.
- You will ideally have an appropriate education that underpins your working experiences. Qualifications that cover topics such as: Project Management, Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Operational Excellence, NVQ/ Apprenticeships, Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent would be advantageous.

Important information regarding this role: This role is for a locally hired position in the UK, and candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the UK, along with 5 years consecutive UK residency to date to be considered for the position.
