Analyzes engineering design, manufacturing and product support requirements and applies industry standard analysis methods and techniques (e.g., Lean, 6-Sigma) to continuously improve and optimize solutions for complex engineering and manufacturing processes throughout the value stream. Utilizes a broad understanding of product design and build processes and applies principles of Lean Product Development, Theory of Constraints and Critical Chain Project Management to construct program planning models simulating the multi-functional dependencies of the product development lifecycle. Provides technical integration analysis to engineering design teams through the use of virtual visualization and simulation tools. In locations where SPEEA representation applies, this job family will be covered by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic direction for the application of industry standard analysis methods and techniques to continuously improve and optimize solutions for complex engineering and manufacturing processes throughout the value stream.
- Leads the adaptation and implementation of national and industry standards for product definition data.
- Instructs others in continuous improvement tools and principles.
- Develops and updates instructional materials. Seeks out new tools and techniques.
- Mentors instructors, experienced practitioners and leaders.
- Guides the effective application and integration of LEAN implementation.
- Leads and facilitates complex and high visibility process improvement efforts.
- Develops an integrated strategy and assists with its strategic deployment.
- Applies and integrates improvement processes and tools across the extended enterprise.
- Leads the development of new improvement tools.
- Benchmarks best practices.
- Leads and facilitates the improvement and standardization of enterprise policies and procedures.
- Interact with all levels of the organization to collaborate and integrate problematic areas of need
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor)
- Lean mindset understanding of the application of advance Lean tools as situations presents itself.
- Self sufficient with minimal guidance necessary to perform and seek out work in business need areas
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- SME on Hoshin Kanri process from development to deployment
- SME on Oobeya as a strategy deployment management process
- SME on OPD development and deployment
Typical Education/Experience:
Expert (Level 5)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:
Level 5: $146,200-$197,800
