BGS is looking for a Network Systems Engineer to join the Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS) team out of Huntington Beach, California or Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The GEDMS team supports the Boeing designed GEDMS high-speed fiber-optic shipboard network for U.S. Navy guided missile destroyers, other Aegis locations and related Foreign Military Sales.
This position is tailored as a Systems Application Engineering specialist that includes Technical Design Documentation development, Configuration Management, and database and tool development. Tasks will be to integrate shipboard user systems (Combat System, Navigation, Steering, Damage Control, Machinery Control, etc.) with the GEDMS network and its variants. Efforts include requirements derivation, use cases, functional analysis, design and configuration documentation, etc.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate or Mid-Level Network Systems Engineer.
Position Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain system configuration information in databases necessary to generate Application Data files or kits (ADkits) for configuring internal networks for US and foreign Navy shipsets, strategic land-based sites and laboratory sites
- Provide pier side System Engineering analysis and troubleshooting with Field Engineers on board Naval ships, including Foreign Military Sales (FMS) in-country support to customers
- Coordinate with US Navy In-Service Engineering Agent and other team members to develop ADkits tool sets and databases
- Generate ADkits and provide distance support to Field Engineers to successfully load the kit on shipboard networks
- Support ADkit development and Field Engineers on Foreign Military Sales (FMS) activities
- Generate, maintain and perform configuration management of documentation (e.g. Interface Design Documents) to capture system interface design decisions
- Perform analysis as required to recommend interface characteristics between GEDMS and shipboard user systems (models, desktop simulations, etc.) for incorporation into the Interface Design Description
- Process Impact Statements defining impacts of adding or modifying users communicating over GEDMS
- Participate in user community system integration working groups to define system interface requirements and definitions, including FMS activities
- Support Project planning through schedule and budget estimations
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 2+ years of experience in systems engineering in Naval shipboard network systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5+ or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Active Security Clearance
- Communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables
- Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area
- Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
- Experience evaluating customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces
- Experience developing, planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes
- Strong technical writing skills with developing documentation for peer review and formal release

Summary pay range Associate (Level 2): $74,650 – $118,450
Summary pay range Mid-Level (Level 3): $90,950 - $141,450
