As we expand our operations in Germany, we are excited to grow our Seat Integration Team in Hamburg, focusing on unique seat certification and integration for all Boeing aircraft models. In this role you will:
Be responsible for and lead the certification activities for aircraft seating products, with the Boeing Commercial Airplanes business unit, to produce STCs that permit post-delivery installation of new seating products.
Be a technical focal point and Boeing representative for stress, structures and certification topics related to seat integration into the airplane.
Perform analytical and finite element (FE) calculations, assess and predict structural failure modes and perform root cause analysis when needed.
Compile structural substantiation documents and review supplier data for integration approval of all seat types and unique seat features into the airframe.
Work closely with Boeing teams and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure our products are delivered in the correct condition and quality.
What you bring to the table:
Basic qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in Stress/Structures/Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering.
8+ years' experience in commercial aircraft design within an EASA Part 21, Subpart J Design Organization (or equivalent).
Experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for Structures in current or previous role.
Demonstrated experience with certification under EASA Part 21J.
Experience within seat development and certification from concept through approval, including test witnessing and ETSO (i.e.: C127, C39 series) performance standards for aircraft seats knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience: You have a deep knowledge of EASA airworthiness regulations and applicable requirements (e.g. CS-25) and related ACs and AMCs; relevant to §25.562 and occupant protection.
Knowledge: You show a high level of attention to detail and bring extensive experience with aircraft interior modification programs including certifying novel seat features such as pre-tensioners and air bags. You thrive while working on multiple programs with varying levels of requirements.
Collaboration: You are experienced in leading complex projects including influencing team members and stakeholders (suppliers, customers, solution providers) involved and are willing to help develop, mentor and coach less experienced staff.
Tools: You can demonstrate solid expertise with key engineering tools: ENOVIA, Catia V5/V6, Altair Hyper Works, PATRAN / NASTRAN.
Personality: You are a principled, reliable professional who values integrity, safety, and accountability, always striving for the highest standards of quality and ethical conduct. Inclusive and collaborative by nature, you communicate transparently, respect diverse perspectives and take ownership to drive results the right way.
Flexibility: You are comfortable with a variable work statement. Our stakeholders/teams are located around the globe; this can require you to be flexible to support meetings to cover different time zones.
