Our international team, with strong presence in Munich and Hamburg, specializes in interior retrofit projects, ranging from halon fire extinguisher replacements to full cabin tube strips. 

For our Commercial Modifications Europe team in Hamburg, Germany, we are looking for you as a

Project Manager (Senior or Experienced Level) (m/f/d)

 

In this role you will

You will work in Hamburg within the Boeing Global Services Programme Management team, which is based across Hamburg, Frimley (UK), Dublin (Ireland) and Istanbul (Türkiye). The team is responsible for managing aircraft modification projects based on an EASA certification pathway that relies on the Boeing Ireland Limited DOA.

 

These projects will focus on the planning, coordination and execution of modification Programmes delivered under a BGS scope of work, with certification achieved through an EASA pathway. The role will require close collaboration with stakeholders across different Business Units, Engineering, Airworthiness, Certification, Supply Chain and Customer teams to ensure successful delivery of technical, schedule, quality and commercial requirements.

 

This is a highly visible role requiring strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority. Previous experience in aircraft modification, integration or certification projects would be a distinct advantage, and the role would suit applicants with Project Management or Project Lead Engineer backgrounds in aerospace environments, MRO organizations or certification-led modification Programmes.

 

 

Responsibilities

• Act as the focal point for assigned aircraft modification projects within the BGS/BCA partnership environment
• Own project delivery from award through to final delivery, ensuring schedule, quality, certification and financial objectives are achieved
• Support the BCA objective of delivering fully configured aircraft by ensuring modification projects align with aircraft build, delivery and customer configuration priorities
• Manage delivery of modification projects certified via an EASA pathway
• Identify and manage project risks, issues and opportunities to protect or improve project performance
• Lead internal Programme teams to execute project requirements in line with agreed scope, schedule and budget
• Coordinate internal activities to ensure all workstreams are progressing in accordance with project milestones and certification requirements
• Lead major milestone meetings with customers and internal stakeholders, including ITCM, PDR, CDR and FAI, and compile resulting minutes and action plans
• Represent customer expectations and requirements to Engineering, Certification and Airworthiness teams to ensure alignment
• Provide regular status updates, milestone schedules, risk analysis and certification progress summaries to internal leadership and stakeholders
• Communicate Programme status, financial performance and key issues to senior management
• Manage customer change requests and support proposals for schedule, cost and certification impact
• Initiate invoicing of project payments and follow up on payment as required
• Support the creation of proposals in response to customer RFPs where required
• Ensure all work is delivered in compliance with Boeing processes, regulatory requirements, certification obligations and contractual commitments
• Foster close collaboration between BGS and BCA teams to support agile delivery of bespoke aircraft configurations

Basic Qualifications (Experienced Level)

• Minimum 3 years of applicable experience in aircraft modification, integration or certification projects

Basic Qualifications (Senior Level)

• Minimum 3 years of applicable experience in aircraft modification, integration or certification projects
• 3+ years experience in leading complex projects (development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk and/or issues management, etc.) including influencing team members and stakeholders (suppliers, customers, solution providers)

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Able to work independently without high levels of supervision and on Senior Level willing to help develop, mentor and coach less experienced staff
• Self-motivated and proactive
• Familiarity with EASA DOA processes and pathways
• Proficient in MS Office applications, including MS Project
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and/or at least 5 years’ experience in a related commercial or military aerospace business
• Qualification in Project Management or equivalent certification such as PMP, CPM or similar
• Experience working in a matrix organization with multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Familiarity with Boeing Commercial Aircraft and Boeing Global Services operating environments
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time is required, sometimes at short notice
