Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for an Experienced Fuel Properties Engineer (Level 3) to support the Fuel Systems Center of Excellence (COE) team based in Everett, WA.
As a Fuel Properties Engineer, you will work closely with internal and external Boeing customers, integrate across the product life cycle from development to out-of-service sustaining programs, and coordinate with customers across Boeing enterprise regions and business units to meet company priorities.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads comprehensive investigations into fuel quality issues to identify underlying causes and implements corrective actions.
Collaborates closely with manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of fuel quality standards and practices.
Develops and implements robust fuel-related test plans, liaising with both Boeing internal and third-party laboratories, as well as analyzes test results and delivers clear, concise summaries to stakeholders.
Performs laboratory tests as necessary to support ongoing investigations and quality assurance efforts.
Evaluates fuel property data to facilitate the approval process for innovative fuel solutions, and ensures compliance with industry standards.
Provides expert guidance to Boeing customers and the aviation industry on fuel-related issues, including testing and analysis, to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
Supports the design of fuel systems by promoting a comprehensive understanding of fuel properties within the Boeing community, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Develops and implements new processes and tools aimed at enhancing the effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of customer service support.
Maintains regular communication with stakeholders and customers to ensure alignment, addresses concerns, and provides updates on fuel quality initiatives and support efforts.
Manages competing priorities, optimizing the use of time and resources to deliver maximum value within established constraints.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology) or Chemistry.
3+ years of experience with polymers & organic chemistry.
3+ years of experience in using and maintaining analytical laboratory instruments (e.g. pH meter, turbidimeter, balances, ICP, GC, GC/MS, FTIR, GFAA, Auto Analyzer, electrochemical techniques, TGA, DSC, and/or DMA).
1+ years of experience in MATLAB.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Masters or Doctorate degree in chemistry, material science, physical chemistry, polymer chemistry or an equivalent field.
Experience with structure - property relationships.
5+ years in modern analytical techniques.
5+ years of experience in organic and inorganic chemistry.
Experience with hydrocarbon fuels including analysis of properties, trace materials and specification review.
Curious and able to think outside the box.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $100,300 - $135,700
