Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking to bring on an Airplane Configuration Design Manager (Level K) to support our Airplane Configuration and Integration Product Development (AC&I) team in Everett, WA.
As a manager, you will apply your expertise in Airplane Configuration Design, leveraging broad knowledge across aerodynamics, systems engineering, structural design, propulsion, airplane systems, payloads, manufacturing, support, and services. You will lead the development of high-value air vehicle configuration designs that align with customer and market requirements.
This role involves advancing the core competencies of airplane configuration design and analysis by enhancing the organization’s skills, relationships, tools, and processes. As a member of the Configuration Design Engineer skill team and the Airplane Configuration and Integration (AC&I) management team, you will identify and acquire talent, and foster skill development through growth assignments, mentorship, Leaders Teaching Leaders programs, and other learning opportunities. Additionally, you will serve as Product Development Deputy Chief Engineer, providing technical leadership and strategic guidance for configuration design activities in collaboration with other business units and Boeing subsidiaries.
Position Responsibilities:
Manages employees performing airplane design, analysis, certification and production system activities in the areas of Flight Engineering.
Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
Provide technical authority for airplane configuration design, and provide direction and guidance to ensure Airplane Configuration and Integration (AC&I) products or processes meet customer, company, quality, safety, production system, industry and regulatory requirements.
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
Advances engineering excellence through continual development and technical improvement of the configuration design skill team and its engineering community.
Manages, develops and motivates employees.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering.
5+ years of experience in air vehicle design with commercial transport airplanes.
5+ years of experience leading cross-functional engineering teams in an aerospace product development environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in new and derivative commercial aircraft design and leadership.
Preferable education in any of the following majors: Aeronautical Engineering; Aerospace Engineering; Mechanical Engineering.
With directly applicable leadership experience in at least one of the following: Air Transport Strategic Analysis, Airplane Conceptual Design Airplane Product Development Airplane Configuration Design and Integration Airplane Level Integrated Analysis.
Understanding of computer-aided design and analysis methods, model based engineering and model based systems engineering are beneficial.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $136,850 – $185,150
