Join Boeing's P‑8A Program and play a pivotal role in sustaining the Royal Australian Air Force's P‑8A Poseidon fleet. We're seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Change Manager) to lead change and project management disciplines across acquisition and sustainment activities — ensuring safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of capability to the customer. This role is based onsite at RAAF Base Edinburgh.
Why this role matters:
- You'll be a key member of the P‑8A Program leadership team, responsible for leading a high‑performing team managing a portfolio of complex projects through the full lifecycle.
- You'll enable an integrated, repeatable and transparent change process that optimises weapon system baselines and resource availability.
- Your work will directly support RAAF capability and the P‑8A Program vision: mature Platform Stewardship behaviours, focus on what's important to capability, maintain business discipline and deliver on commitments to people and customer.
What you'll lead:
The Senior Project Manager will lead a team delivering three core services:
- Baseline Management — defining and maintaining the current state
- Project Management — planning and delivering changes across acquisition and sustainment
- Platform Steward — providing strategic decision support and governance
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach and motivate a skilled team of project managers and front‑line managers.
- Manage complex technical and programmatic changes from initiation through to close‑out.
- Develop and execute integrated programmatic plans, policies and procedures.
- Provide oversight, approval and governance for change approaches, products and processes.
- Facilitate high‑level stakeholder engagement and negotiation across customer, support teams and suppliers.
- Contribute to programmatic business and technical strategies, goals and objectives.
- Ensure alignment with airworthiness standards and the ADF Technical Airworthiness Management system.
What we're looking for
- 6–8+ years' demonstrated project management experience delivering projects to time, cost and quality — ideally in Defence aviation or complex systems environments.
- Formal tertiary qualification in STEM, Business or Management — or equivalent experience (one year experience may substitute one year of tertiary education).
- Proven leadership and influence at multiple organisational levels.
- Outstanding communication (written and oral) and negotiation skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills.
- Solid understanding of airworthiness principles and the ADF Technical Airworthiness Management system.
- Self‑starter with initiative, robust problem‑solving and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and lead teams across all project lifecycle stages.
Australian Citizen with ability to hold or obtain security clearance.
What's on offer
- Work on a high‑profile Defence sustainment program making a real difference to national capability.
- A culture that values Safety & Quality, Trust, People Focus, Ownership and Innovation.
- Career development opportunities and support for internal movement — we invest in our people.
- The chance to contribute to a program that delivers meaningful outcomes for the RAAF and Australia.
