The Opportunity
Join a world-class team sustaining the Royal Australian Air Force's airborne surveillance, communications and maritime patrol capability — the P‑8A Poseidon. We are seeking a Senior Aircraft Structures & Systems Engineer to join the team. In this role you will provide engineering, sustainment, through life and capability support for the P-8A Poseidon, support that keeps aircraft safe and mission ready.

You'll be safeguarding Australia's maritime surveillance and Defence capability. Every analysis, repair solution and fatigue assessment you provide keeps P-8A Poseidon aircraft safe, reliable and mission-ready — protecting lives at sea and supporting national security.
Your work ensures the fleet can meet evolving threats and mission demands across the globe, directly contributing to operational success and the ongoing safety of aircrew and ADF personnel.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake engineering related activities to support Sustainment, and Maintenance organisations including deeper maintenance.
- Provide Engineering support to the Structures and Mechanical Systems team within the P-8A Continuing Airworthiness Management (Part M) Organisation.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Aircraft Structural Integrity (ASI)) programs.
- Monitor the aircraft structural fatigue to ensure aircraft are safe and reliable throughout their service life.
- Gain Engineering Authority delegations to act as an approval signatory within the Structures & Mechanical Systems team.
Experience & Qualifications
- Hold Tertiary qualifications in either Aerospace or Mechanical, that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust).
- Demonstrated previous experience in aircraft structural analysis, modification or aircraft repairs.
- Possess strong analytical skills, including the ability to collect, organise, and analyse data to develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Well-developed communication skills to work collaboratively to a high standard within a multi-discipline team. A proactive mindset with a strong desire to take initiative and drive results.
Security requirement
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
Location
- Based at RAAF Base Edinburgh, Adelaide — working closely with flight crews, maintenance and product support teams.
