Role Overview
To help us lead the future of commercial aircraft modification in Boeing EASA Modifications, we are seeking applicants for a Principal Engineer (Electrical Systems) to join our rapidly expanding, best-in-class team. We will support you to develop your already substantial skills and encourage you to reach your career goals.
The successful candidate will guide and lead the design and certification of complex large aircraft modifications, primarily electrical system modifications, for our global airline partners to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and customer requirements and procedures defined in the company’s Design Organization Handbook (DOH).
You will work closely with Office of Airworthiness and Authorities to grow and develop our electrical system capabilities in order to ensure certification, process understanding and design strategy.
This role is based in within the BGS Commercial Modifications Europe organization. The position is primarily a remote position with a listed home-based of Dublin, Ireland. Attendance at the home-based is expected with occasional international travel to other sites.
Role Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager and working with the global engineering services team, across multiple time-zones, in order to identify requirements and their associated solutions for active and upcoming modification projects
Lead and contribute to engineering activities to ensure compliance with design requirements, and address certification and design/integration issues relating to electrical system integration within large aircraft.
Must work as an EASA Part 21 Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) and as such must currently hold or have recently held this authority recently.
Be a subject-matter expert in large aircraft electrical systems.
Having high level experience of interactions with part 21G POA and Part 145 and regulatory authority, that interface with part 21J DOA, for the purpose of aircraft modification.
Guide the less experienced engineers in the compilation of engineering documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including:
Wiring diagrams.
Wire routing installation drawings, and harness fabrication drawings.
Service Bulletins / accomplishment instructions
Aircraft and component manual ICA supplements including wiring diagram manuals, system schematic manuals and EWIS assessments.
Guide the engineers within the global electrical team in the compilation of certification documents to demonstrate compliance with relevant electrical systems related airworthiness requirements including:
Equipment qualification
Test plans and reports
Compliance statements
System requirements
Compliance checklists
Certification programmes
Provide strategic guidance to the electrical systems team on component qualification, system architecture and system integration.
- Act as Boeing key representative during customer meetings such as ITCM, PDR, CDR and FAI in support of active and up-coming projects. Provide additional on-site support to assist the customers during the embodiment phase of the project.
- This role will require occasional national and/or international travel to visit teammates, customers and subcontractors.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree within Electrical / Avionics or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering (an equivalent technical qualification will be considered).
Previous experience within an EASA Design Organization (or equivalent).
Previous experience as an EASA Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) is required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry specifically working with an EASA Part 21J Design Organization (or equivalent) is essential.
Current or recent appointment as an EASA Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) with terms of approval relevant to the electrical system integration.
Able to demonstrate comprehensive working knowledge of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements including (E)TSO, CS-25, JAR-25 and FAR-25 requirements (relevant to the electrical/avionics discipline).
Knowledge and experience of electrical systems and large-scope electrical modification programs
Experience in technical leadership of large and complex aircraft modification projects (or similar scope projects within the aviation industry)
A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity.
Ability to priorities workloads and show flexibility to changing situations / demands.
Ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers to embody the core values of the business: Honesty, Integrity and Transparency.
Proven ability to mentor and coach less experienced staff.
Experience navigating OEM data systems for specifications and standards.
Relocation:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in Ireland. CANDIDATES MUST HAVE CURRENT LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK IMMEDIATELY IN IRELAND. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
