The Boeing Company is looking for a Ground Mission Systems Software Architect to join our Space Mission Systems (SMS) Ground Mission Management (GMM) team in Chantilly, VA, Colorado Springs, CO or El Segundo, CA. This Software Engineering Architect will help lead the technical approaches to multiple satellite ground-based programs, campaigns, and research and development projects.
These teams build the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. Working with commercial, government, and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

Position Responsibilities:
Oversees the design, development, analyses, and maintenance of software systems
Partners with appropriate stakeholders to oversee translation of software requirements and models that meet customer, operational and performance requirements
Oversees completion of software system-level analyses to identify risk, issues and opportunities
Oversees code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards.
Oversees review of product and process for alignment with project plans and industry standards
Researches and oversees implementation of current and emerging software technologies, tools, and frameworks
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (e.g. review preparation, customer coordination, closed area development, etc.).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
10+ years of experience in foundational Computer Science knowledge and object-oriented design and software patterns
Experience leading software development projects
Experience in agile software development environment and devops methodologies
Experience with distributed version control systems such as GitHub, IBM Rational Team Concert, etc.
Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance post-start
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Experience as a software architect on a program
10+ years’ experience in Java/C++ programming on full stack software projects/programs
Experience with one or more of the following: HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript, Firebug and JS frameworks (REACT, jQuery, jQuery UI, Open Layers, etc.), Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, MongoDB, XML, SOAP, REST, WSDL/Web Service protocols
Experience using dependency management (e.g. Ivy, Maven, Gradle)
Experience developing and maintaining SOAP, RMI, REST APIs and interfaces
Experience using cloud-based infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
Experience using automation server (e.g. Jenkins)
Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), agile software development, continuous integration, and dependency management is preferred.
Familiarity with Agile or SAFe practices, including daily standup, User Stories, Sprints, and Release Planning
Experience with satellite ground mission capabilities, products, and/or customers
Experience with DevSecOps and continuous integration
Active TS/SCI clearance
Travel: More than 10%

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $156,400 - $226,550
