The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Data and Records Governance Specialist based in our Brisbane office.
This role will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies, procedures and practices to ensure the proper management of BDA's data and records. Comprising the development and application of procedures and practices to manage the record lifecycle and the quality and accessibility of data in accordance with legal and organisational requirements, the successful applicant will need to engage stakeholders, change organisational practices, champion data governance and records management and seek to continuously improve.
Key responsibilities
Develop and implement information and data governance frameworks, policies, procedures, controls and standards that align with organisational requirements and ensure BDA complies with relevant records management legislation, regulations, and standards.
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of records management systems - both physical and digital.
Provide training and guidance on best practice systems to manage data governance and the complete lifecycle of records, including creation, classification, storage, access, retention, and disposition.
Collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders to understand their information management needs and promote a culture of awareness and adherence to record and data governance across BDA.
Conducts regular audits, ensuring compliance and reporting on the effectiveness of the Records and Information Management and data governance program.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Information Management, Library Science, or a related field.
- Five years + of experience in records management, information governance, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of records management and data governance principles, practices, and relevant legislation.
- Familiarity with electronic document and records management systems (EDRMS) and other relevant technologies.
- Proven ability to lead change initiatives and uplift data governance and record management culture and behaviours.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to analyze information, identify problems, and develop solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
