As a Change Management Specialist within BDA's Operations Integration Team, you will support the successful planning, adoption and sustainment of change across a complex organisation. The Change Management Specialist will help initiatives meet objectives by increasing employee engagement, adoption and performance, and by reducing resistance and transition risk.
You will translate business objectives into pragmatic, evidence based change approaches that help stakeholders understand, adopt and sustain new ways of working. Using stakeholder analysis, impact assessments and measurable adoption metrics, you will ensure stakeholder needs are identified, validated and addressed throughout planning and implementation.
This role requires a proactive, strategic thinker who can navigate organisational complexity, influence leaders and operational teams, and deliver outcomes that align with BDA's priorities.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to obtain Australian Defence Security clearance.
Responsibilities
Supporting Change delivery:
- Develop and implement change management strategies, using structured methodologies and plans that maximise adoption and minimise resistance.
- Integrate change activities with project plans, timelines and governance; advise project teams on sequencing and dependencies.
- Identify risks and resistance points; design and execute mitigation plans.
- Conduct impact analyses, readiness assessments and stakeholder mapping to prioritise interventions.
- Contribute to requirements documentation and support design/delivery of training, coaching and job‑aids.
- Monitor change adoption and performance gaps; implement corrective actions to improve outcomes.
- Partner with project managers to ensure smooth transition and operational handover.
Lead Change Communication:
- Develop and deliver targeted communication strategies and materials that clearly explain change initiatives and their value to different stakeholder groups.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to craft messages that drive understanding, acceptance, and successful adoption of change.
- Produce communication artifacts (presentations, FAQs, briefs, training content, intranet updates) tailored to audience needs and channels.
Stakeholder analysis, influence and critical thinking
- Identify and analyse stakeholder groups, their concerns and readiness; use data and feedback to refine interventions.
- Validate that stakeholder requirements are captured in change plans and that planned outcomes are being achieved.
- Anticipate adoption barriers, propose practical mitigations and escalate issues where necessary to maintain momentum.
Manage Organisational Complexity:
- Navigate a multi-layered organisational structure and diverse teams to ensure alignment and collaboration in change initiatives.
- Coordinate with cross-functional leaders and project teams to integrate change actions seamlessly into overarching project plans.
- Maintain awareness of organisational dynamics and risks that could impact the success of change activities.
Support Change Planning and Measurement:
- Collaborate and lead the development of change plans, aligning communication and stakeholder engagement efforts with project timelines and objectives.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication and change activities, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Organisational Psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a communication or change specialist focusing on stakeholder engagement, ideally in complex organizational environments.
- Strong critical thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret stakeholder data and influence change outcomes.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to distil complex information into clear, persuasive messages.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and levels of leadership.
