The Opportunity
Boeing Australia is seeking a Business Architect embedded in Business Operations supporting the Digital Enablement Lead by translating operational goals into practical, deliverable roadmaps. This role suits a hands-on architect who enjoys working close to business, driving practical technical solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Translate business strategy into an actionable business architecture and roadmap that drives programs and transformation initiatives.
- Establish and manage technology/data baseline across Boeing Defence Australia that drive cross-program reuse, technical and data consolidation, and simplification to reduce operational cost and technical debt.
- Establish architectural principles, standards and governance frameworks to guide technology and data decisions across the organization
- Engage with product owners to enable & update capability maps, value streams and business process models delivery plans, APIs, integration patterns, and cloud/on-prem footprints to the business roadmap.
- Designs, develops, maintains and optimizes internal company data architecture for databases / data warehouses required to operate the business.
- Leads Business architecture governance through lightweight Architecture Review Board and documented solution patterns.
- Define measurable architecture KPIs and report progress to business and technology leadership.
Experience and qualifications (required)
- 5+ years in business architecture, enterprise architecture, business process design,
systems design; 2+ years in an architecture-focused position.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or
equivalent experience.
- Business Architecture or related certifications (e.g. TOGAF, BIZBOK, CBAP, PMP or
Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), SAFe or similar)
- Familiarity with digital thread / digital twin concepts, API/integration patterns and data
modeling
- Demonstrated ability to design end-to-end solutions and produce clear technical
documentation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and executive communication.
- Ability to make trade-off decisions and balance short-term delivery needs with longerterm
architecture goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: cloud provider architecture (e.g., AWS/Azure Solutions Architect), TOGAF foundational, or relevant vendor certifications.
- Experience with ERP/CRM integrations, process automation, or operations-focused digital initiatives.
- Experience in aerospace, defense or manufacturing industries is beneficial.
Working conditions and travel
- Hybrid work model with 3 days presence in the office.
- Occasional travel to business sites and vendor locations is required (typically low).
Security Clearance
- The candidate should be an Australian citizen for the requirement to obtain the required
security clearance for the role.
