The Boeing Company is seeking a Structures Test & Evaluation Instrumentation Engineer, with experience in Test Control Methods and Data Acquisition Systems required, to work in the Structures and Mechanical Test (STR) capability as part of the Structures Test and Evaluation Engineering team located in Berkeley, Missouri. The STR capability supports structural, mechanical and material properties test programs for all Boeing Divisions, including Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA), Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS), and Boeing Global Services (BGS). This position will support the lab test teams by developing and operating instrumentation, test control and data acquisition hardware and software setups and electro/mechanical design solutions of varying complexity.
As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on the latest military aircraft and weapons programs, such as T-7A and MQ-25A, Phantom Works, and support our legacy programs like F-15 and F-18 into the future. The St. Louis STR team supports tests ranging from material testing to airframe component testing to full-scale static and fatigue testing. The ideal candidate should work well under pressure, have excellent all-around communication skills, leadership, interpersonal, organizational skills, and be very detail oriented. There are additional opportunities to work with other test laboratories in the company and develop unique solutions for data acquisition and instrumentation systems to solve challenging engineering problems.
This position is for 1st shift; however, various shifts, nights, weekends, alternate shifts and occasional overtime may be required to support program objectives.

Position Responsibilities:
Leads others in the development of standard test methods and processes and applies advanced test technologies to create or improve test methods
Writes invention disclosures to protect Boeing Intellectual Property
Prepares R&D proposals and presents to internal management and external customer
Applies emerging industry technologies to develop test procedures
Reviews critical procedures to identify potential problems and resolve issues
Develops innovative metrology design techniques, processes, methods, or concepts
Oversees the integration of new design and manufacturing techniques into test hardware/system designs
Analyzes processes for potential improvements and recommends associated changes
Develops the standard policies for post-test activity
Resolves or oversees resolution of special test procedures
Works with the enterprise test and engineering group to standardize evaluation techniques
Formulates expectations for test data for new or unique tests
Trains and coaches others
Works under consultative direction
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
Experience with MTS FlexTest controllers and/or MTS AeroPro Test Control Software
Experience with transducer and sensor physics with the ability to make hardware selections appropriate to measure physical phenomena
3 + years of leading a team of load control and data acquisition engineers
10+ years of experience with PID Control theory, control software, and/or data acquisition software or equipment
10+ years of experience in testing full scale airframe structures
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Level 6: 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience programing and running hydraulic or mechanical load frames
Experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting instrumentation systems for military and/or commercial aircraft programs
Experience with open and closed loop feedback control systems
Experience with instrumentation and/or data acquisition systems
Experience working in a lab test, flight test, or similar test environment
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Aerospace Engineering
Experience with hydraulic control systems for static and fatigue testing in a lab environment
Experience planning and executing instrumentation activities for test programs
Experience with data acquisition system attributes (e.g. range, accuracy, frequency responses, bandwidth) to define characteristics of measurements to be recorded
Experience planning and executing instrumentation activities for test programs
Experience directly supporting flight/lab test operations
Experience with precision test, measurement devices, and sensor selection
Experience with Moog or MTS FlexTest controllers
Experience with LabView software and its use in laboratory environments

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range for Subject Matter Expert level (Level 5): $136,000 – $184,000
Summary Pay Range for Principal level (Level 6): $167,450 – $226,550
