Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the F/A-18 Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) Team in Berkeley, MO.

 

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for leading cross-functional integration to drive engineering excellence in the execution of our F/A-18 software development activities. The individual selected for this role will be primarily focused on the Technical Integration role for Software Development and Advanced Systems activities.

 

Position Responsibilities

• Ensure Engineering Excellence: Responsible for leading integration across multiple engineering and program teams to ensure safety, technical excellence, and product integrity. Drives adherence to Boeing and program processes, setting high standards for quality and performance
• Systems Engineering Approach: Ensure an integrated systems engineering approach. Take ownership to manage requirements and ensure full traceability. Manage the configuration of the integrated system to ensure dependencies are well understood. Responsible for ensuring comprehensive certification and verification activities, demonstrating a commitment to excellence 
• Build Strategic Partnerships: Develop and nurture strong relationships with the United States Navy (USN), engineering functions, and program management. Leverage these partnerships to enhance collaboration and drive program success
• Manage Technical Baseline: Oversees the technical baseline, including mission systems configuration, technical performance measures, architecture diagrams, and Risk Identification and Opportunity (RIO) assessments. Foster a culture of proactive technical oversight and continuous improvement
• Problem Solver: Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills by driving complex emerging issues to prompt resolution.  Investigate System Anomaly Reports in partnership with Mission Systems to ensure a high quality deliverable
• Project Leadership: Work closely with technical experts and teammates to achieve program objectives and build customer trust.  Will be responsible for managing the software configuration set (SCS) engineering change proposals (ECPs), generating labor estimates for development efforts, leading technical working groups, and presenting at Engineering Review Boards and Change Control Boards
• Technical Leadership: Manages and leads the Interface Control Working Group, maintains the Mission Systems Architecture Diagrams, and updates Worst Case Scenario analyses

 

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.

 

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

 

This position requires ability to obtain Special Program Access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• 7+ years’ related engineering experience

• Prior Systems Engineering experience (i.e. system design, functional decomposition, requirements development, analysis, verification, and validation) 
• Experience with combined software development, integration & test experience and/or mission system

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Active U.S. Security Clearance
• Experience with multiple phases of an aircraft program
• Experience working with government customers
• Experience supporting or leading Interface Control Document (ICD) changes for software or hardware changes
• Demonstrated project management leadership in an Agile framework
• Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) and Cost Account Management

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $136,850 – $185,150
