The St. Louis Materials & Process Technology (M&PT) organization is seeking a Materials and Process Technology Engineering Manager based out of Berkeley, MO to support Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS).
This position will manage approximately 15-20 engineers and will have responsibility, authority, and accountability for day-to-day operations in coordination with program Integrated Product Team (IPT) management. The candidate will interface with other team leaders within BDS and BGS as well as with external Customers (DCMA, Air Force, Navy) on a regular basis. Successful candidates will apply knowledge and a varied set of experiences toward facilitating, directing, and leading multi-disciplined groups, both technical and non-technical, in order to accomplish common goals/objectives in support of Boeing-St. Louis programs.
Manager responsibilities will be focused on employee development, staffing, ensuring technical excellence, engaging with program leadership and chief engineers to assign responsibilities and prioritize work. Strong customer focus, communication and project management skills are required as the team balances dynamic work scope from multiple customers.
Position Responsibilities:
Engages and promotes professional development and motivation of team members including conducting performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, employee recognition, and training
Partners with program and engineering leadership to establish technical strategies
Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals
Acquires resources for projects and processes to meet program and organizational goals
Plans and manages program and overhead budgets, schedules, and technical performance
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships to promote collaboration with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
Provides oversight, guidance and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
Assesses and adjusts priorities within cost and schedule constraints and assesses the technical risks associated with decisions made by the team and the impact of these risks on cost/schedule performance
Reduces the price of products and services within area of responsibility by transitioning technology, innovations and best practices to use in day-to-day operations
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, mathematics, physics or chemistry
5+ years of engineering experience
3+ years of experience working with production program engineering
2+ years’ experience leading or managing an engineering project or team.
Candidates must have demonstrated ability to collaborate cross functionally and treat colleagues and employees with respect in all situations, and a capability to manage competing priorities on a daily basis.
Must be able to effectively lead and coach a team with highly diverse technical skills
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Active U.S. Secret Clearance
MBA, Masters in Engineering Management or equivalent
Bachelor's degree or higher in chemical, materials, mechanical, metallurgical or electrical engineering
Experience leading and developing an engineering team including performing performance reviews.
Experience in leading and/or managing complex projects
Experience working with industry and military specifications and standards
Experience working with aerospace programs, production and supply chain stakeholders
Experience managing budgets
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with M&P processes, specifications and standards (including BCA, BDS, and industry).
Experience related to one or more materials and processes disciplines (e.g., metals, composites, chemical processing, coatings, assembly).

Typical summary pay range: $129,200- $174,800
