Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity, in the St. Louis, MO region, for a BDS Lean Senior Manager to lead Lean transformation across Fabrication and Air Dominance Start Right Programs in Berkeley, MO.
This Senior Manager will be responsible for working in partnership with multiple functional leaders to accelerate factory throughput with first time quality across production systems of multiple Programs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Team with a broad stakeholder group to transform production systems across the STL Region and Air Dominance Programs utilizing the 9 tactics of Lean to achieve business objectives
- Connect Lean principles and strategy to execution and results – mature Seek, Speak, Listen and closed loop for continuous improvement
- Operationalize data analytics into daily Lean practices and priorities
- Create robust communication strategy of Lean tactics implementation – integrate and connect businesses with deep partnerships across functions
- Drive the Implementation of standards that enable takt-based jobs, simplified work, and enhanced factory visuals
- Execute a strategy that drives producible designs, standardized work, capable operators, and full-kit at point-of-use to unlock the capacity of shop floor personnel
- Develop and deploy systematic approach to capture (identify and standardize) best practices and replicate across all key build processes
- Drive standard work process adherence in partnership with Operations and Manufacturing Engineering through methods such as internal auditing and Kamishibai boards
- Lead further deployment of Moonshine Shop operations and capability across St. Louis Region
- Develop and execute lean plans aligned to achieve business strategies, goals, objectives
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports
- Manage, develop, and motivate teammates to grow the lean acumen
- Lead (directly or indirectly) employees to implement lean principles that drive results across the production system.
- Partner with the BDS Operations, Compliance, and Training leaders, to enable capable operators and simplified certifications
- Integrate and communicate with factory leaders to ensure support and sponsorship of transformation activities and onboarding of new capabilities into their factories
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 8+ years’ experience in Aerospace or Manufacturing industry
- 5+ years’ experience in leadership or management role
- 5+ years of experience working with product support technical data requirements and formats
- 5+ years of experience in Lean with implementation of Lean Principles to drive business results
- Experience working with assembly and production processes, manufacturing capabilities (e.g., composites, structures), and data needed for defining delivery configurations (e.g., design definition, program directives, engineering drawings, change memos, wiring diagrams and schematics, functional tests, supplier data)
- Advanced knowledge of design concepts and techniques (e.g., concurrent engineering, Design for Manufacture/Assembly [DFM/A])
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (Engineering or STEM, preferred)
- Project Management Certification
- Knowledge of Boeing Production System (BPS)
- Experience communicating to the executive level via presentations or other methods
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- Experience working with Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Management, and BR&T to implement lean improvements

Additional Information:
- This position requires travel up to 10% of the time outside of the region. Local travel to other St. Louis region sites will be up to 50% sites, including St. Charles, MO, and Mascoutah, IL

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $128,350 – $173,650
