Boeing is seeking a Capture Strategy Leader (Lead, Senior, or Principal) to support Boeing Research & Technology team in one of the following locations: Arlington, VA; El Segundo, CA; Fairfax, VA; Hazelwood, MO; Berkeley, MO; St. Charles, MO; Huntsville, AL; Seattle, WA; Tukwila, WA; Renton, WA; Everett, WA; Auburn, WA; Huntington Beach, CA; Long Beach, CA; or Seal Beach, CA.
As the advanced central research and development organization of The Boeing Company, Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) provides innovative technologies that enable the development of future aerospace solutions while improving the cycle time, cost, quality and performance of existing Boeing products and services.
The role of Business Development within BR&T is to help create business relationships/opportunities with external R&D entities like the US Dept of Defense (DoD), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and a host of industry partners and suppliers to achieve these technology goals.
The successful candidate will have a passion for aerospace technology and experience working with these R&D entities in order to partner with BR&T’s world class technologists in these pursuits.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide strategic intelligence and engage potential external customers to identify / create / shape strategic new business opportunities (commonly referred to as Contracted Research & Development or CRAD)
Advise BR&T leadership on new business (CRAD) objectives and goals
Lead regularly scheduled new business meetings with the BR&T technology teams to review campaign activities and status
Develop and disseminate status of new business capture and forecasts (e.g. “opportunity pipeline”)
Chair external new business Gate Review Board and facilitate gate decisions and authorize funding for new business activities (Marketing Assist, Bid & Proposal)
Assists in preparing proposals by developing themes and discriminators and ensures correct members are on the team
Establishes, maintains and expands network to address customer needs and keep lines of communication open.
Leads strategic external capture customer engagement planning for exhibits and sponsorships
Provide guidance for external new business using lessons learned from win/loss feedback
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, science, marketing, business or related degree
3+ years of experience working with the U.S. Government acquisition process
3+ years of experience in business development and strategy in aerospace or equivalent industries
Experience with business development, including research, planning, marketing, execution, and customer retention
3+ years of experience in new business development, including shaping, proposal writing, and winning government contracts
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
Experience communicating with technical experts and explaining difficult technical concepts to non-technical business users
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
6+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Active Security Clearance
Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, engineering or aerospace related technical field
Technical/experience background particularly around Aerospace Research & Technology
Background and/or experience working with and experience fostering relationships with DoD customers (e.g. AFRL, ONR, ARL, DARPA, etc), NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) particularly its Technology organization
Knowledge of or experience with the Government (funding) / Defense Requirements and Acquisition processes

Travel:
Travel is required for this role. Typical travel is once or twice per quarter with most trips lasting 2- 4 days. Occasional international travel may be required. Some trips will be on short notice.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for lead (level 4): $109-650 - $158,700
Summary pay range for senior (level 5): $136,000 - $196,650
Summary pay range for principal (level 6): $159,800 - $231,150
