The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager role requires an experienced leader that can exercise a pragmatic approach to effectively navigate a complex organization operating in a highly technical, innovative, and regulated environment.
Reporting to the Senior Manager EHS, the role can either be based in Toowoomba, or Brisbane (Amberley) with regular travel to Toowoomba.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the MQ-28 program's EHS team to deliver high-quality support.
- Promote a positive, collaborative EHS culture through visible leadership, stakeholder engagement, coaching and capability development.
- Act as the primary focal point for all EHS matters within the business unit, providing expert advice and leadership support.
- Partner with business leaders and program teams to integrate EHS strategy and management system requirements into operational planning, program execution, performance outcomes and effective risk management practices.
- Guide and influence business leaders on risk mitigation, compliance requirements, and cultural development.
- Execute oversight of EHS governance across the business unit, including compliance obligations, policies, procedures, standards, approvals and controls to ensure their effectiveness.
- Lead your team in delivering assurance activities including internal audits, inspections, reviews and management system health checks, and support readiness for customers, regulatory and certification activities as required.
- Monitor and report on EHS performance, including incidents, hazards, risks, audit findings, corrective actions, trends and improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Global and Australian EHS teams to ensure alignment between the program and broader objectives.
- Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and lessons learned activities.
To be successful, you will possess some/all the following:
- 5+ years in EHS leadership roles within Australia, with strong preference for continuously operating business with dynamic risk profiles.
- Collaborative and influential with a strong commitment to outcomes and values-based leadership.
- Strong communicator who can engage and motivate geographically dispersed teams.
- Lead with initiative and exercise critical systems thinking to deliver integrated solutions to complex problems.
- Adaptable and solutions-focused.
