Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is currently looking for an Entry-Level or Associate Test Engineers to join the Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC3) team located in Huntsville, AL.
Boeing Huntsville has multi-year contracts to develop, manufacture, and test the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile seeker and future improvements. These contracts are driving significant, long-term growth for the PAC-3 engineering team on the Huntsville campus.
Key responsibilities include test planning, configuration control, test conduct, as well as data collection and analysis to assure product safety, performance, and certification during all testing.
Shift Work Statement: This position is for a B or C Shift.
- B Shift: M-Th; 4x10 – Starts at 4pm
- C Shift: F/Sa/Su; 3x12 – Starts at 6am
- Shifts may be eligible for a shift differential and subject to availability
Position Responsibilities:
- Leads test planning, procedures and test equipment/software to ensure company products and services comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements
- Architects, designs and develops instrumentation data systems
- Integrates test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements that encompass the full spectrum of testing
- Analyzes, reviews and validates test data
- Prepare and publishes instrumentation reports as required
- Conducts research in test technologies to improve efficiency and capability
- Primary interface with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement instrumentation engineering solutions
- Mentors and develops instrumentation engineering team
- Review and apply real-time test anomaly troubleshooting and resolution of issues encountered during testing and operation. Research emerging technologies for potential applications to meet projected requirements.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- Experience with open and closed loop feedback control systems (e.g. sequencing, ladder logic, PLC, PID) including custom software utilization (e.g. LabView, Linux, C++, Visual Basic), control system theory, test fail safe techniques, system optimization techniques and/or compensation techniques
- Experience with transducer and sensor physics with the ability to make hardware and system selections appropriate to measure various physical phenomena
- Experience with data acquisition system attributes (e.g. range, accuracy, frequency responses, bandwidth) to define characteristics of measurements to be recorded
- Ability to follow and evaluate test procedures
- Understanding of mechanical design and the ability to decipher engineering drawings
- Experience working in an Electronic Component or systems integration lab test environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with creating and implementing overall Test Equipment Design Strategies.
- Experience in making recommendations for technological investments.
- Experience with National Instrument’s Lab-View and Test-Stand software.
- Experience with the support development of automated test equipment, generate drawings, and support hardware fabrication, integration, and testing.
- Understanding of circuits (PCBA) and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with common electrical test equipment (DMM, OSCOPE, Power Supplies)
- Knowledge of CCA (Circuit Card Assembly) Production Test Equipment (Flying Probe, ESS, Functional Test, Thermal, Vibe, Etc.)

Level 1: related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Level 2: 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

Summary pay range:
Entry-Level (Level 1): $68,000 – $92,000
Associate (Level 2): $79,900 - $108,100
